Such water can be useful both as an independent drink and for cooling juices, freshly brewed tea, etc. This function is especially useful in hot weather — especially since the device dispenses chilled water immediately, there is no need to wait until it cools down (unlike by using the refrigerator). However, note that modern coolers and purifiers may differ in cooling efficiency — first of all, this depends on the type of refrigeration system. This point is highly desirable to clarify before buying.The most advanced are devices that use a compressor system — the same as in conventional household refrigerators. Such a system consists of a cooling circuit (evaporator, radiator, pipelines) and the compressor itself, which pumps freon or another refrigerant along the circuit. Compressor devices are relatively complex and expensive, but they are capable of delivering cold water of a given temperature, regardless of environmental conditions (including in hot weather). An alternative to compressors is "electronic" (thermoelectric) systems. Their action is based on the use of plates of a special design, which cool down on one side and heat up on the other when current is passed. Such designs are somewhat simpler and cheaper (although they also have additional equipment such as a fan for air circulation), but they are less efficient: the cooling temperature strongly depends on the ambient temperature, and it is impossible to get "ice" water in such a cooler in extreme heat.
