— brass is strong enough, easy to process, inexpensive and has a pleasant appearance due to its characteristic yellow colour. However, it is very weakly resistant to corrosion, and from constant contact with the skin it oxidizes and darkens. This affects the appearance of both the watch itself and the wearer's hands, and can even lead to allergies. Some brass watches are fitted with a corrosion-resistant stainless steel case back, but this measure usually only reduces this effect without completely eliminating it. Another solution to the problem is a protective coating; however, any coating wears out over time and loses not only its properties, but also its “presentation”. As a result of all this, the main scope of brass are low-cost models.
